When submitting a picture book as a Final Major Project in illustration, you’re usually asked to present a finished cover plus at least two interior spreads and other samples of picture book visuals (such as spots illos and vignettes). Out of all of these I felt most confident with the piece that defined the look of the book for me — the cover.
Jungle of the Jungle is a picture book about a free roaming dog that leads the reader to understand how humans, animals and the environment are all connected, and that in order to uplift one we must uplift everyone. The story has changed a few times since I started on it in 2023, but the cover has so far remained the same — I hope to keep it that way! Read on to find out more about how the art was made.
